Submit a paper for the SIDO International Clinic Research Award by June 17, 2018
The SIDO (Società Italiana di Ortodonzia) is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018. Besides the regular scientific events of March and October, on the proposal of the 2018 President Dr. Giuseppe Fiorentino, the SIDO Board has decided to celebrate this important date and announced an International Clinic Research Award.
The contest is designed to stimulate clinical research demonstrating the Usefulness of Orthodontics for patients’ oral and general health and it is based on a paper competition. The deadline for submitting papers was originally May 31, but to facilitate participation by WFO Fellows now learning about the competition, the deadline is being extended to June 17.
Submissions should be emailed to award50th@sido.it
The SIDO Board encourages young researchers to participate. At least one of the winners should be under age 40. A prize of €5.000 will be awarded to the first qualified, €3.000 to the second and €2.000 to the third. The rules are described here. Rules for authors are the same of Progress in Orthodontics, the international journal powered by SIDO.
The scientific activity of the Society for the year 2018 was planned as usual on two major events:
· The International Spring Meeting took place in March in Naples and was titled, “BEFORE BRACES, ALL WE NEED IS KNOWLEDGE.” Sessions addressed Prevention in transition and eruption disturbances, Diagnostic changes by 3D tools, Prevention of forensic litigation, and Early treatment and EBD.
· The 50th Anniversary SIDO International Congress, “ORTHODONTIC CHALLENGES: BORDERLINES, DOUBTS, ERRORS, TEAMWORK, THAT’S THE WAY!” It will take place in Florence October 11-13. Referring to the main title, the speakers will address these topics: Orthodontics and surgery, Orthodontics and periodontics, Bruxism and occlusion, Retention and the long term, and Invisible orthodontics. There will be a session for Doctors and staff and 3D smile-design guide.
SIDO encourages members of the World Federation of Postgraduate Orthodontic School (WFPOS), as well as Italian Postgraduate students, to attend this Congress with a special reduced registration fee. The students may also register free for one of the three Courses of Clinical Orientation (pre-congress day on Thursday). The pre-Congress courses will be on comparisons between the most important orthodontic philosophies on typical clinical situations: Deep-bite, Extractions space-closure, and Class 2 correction.
