9th IOC

Greetings from the Japanese Orthodontic Society

The JOS looks forward to hosting the
9th International Orthodontic Congress in Japan

On behalf of the Japanese Orthodontic Society (JOS), I would like to express my deepest appreciation for allowing Japan the opportunity to host the 9th International Orthodontic Congress (IOC) in Yokohama in 2020.Please see the website of the 9th IOC for more information.

The Japanese Orthodontic Society, a scientific society that represents Japan's orthodontic community, believes that holding the 9th IOC in Japan will be a great opportunity for all orthodontists to share the research findings and treatment practices that the Japanese orthodontic community has accumulated over the years, while deepening ties between orthodontics and other related domains worldwide so that our area of specialization can further develop as an important pillar of health science.

We also believe that gathering orthodontists and dental care professionals from around the world, who will bring with them their expertise, experience and wisdom, will be of particular significance in expanding and supporting the need for orthodontic care that is rapidly growing throughout the world, but particularly in Asia.

Considering that eating, speaking and smiling are activities basic to our QOL and physical and mental health and that correct occlusion and mastication must be assured so that one can live a healthy life to the full; we can say that orthodontics is at the heart of health and life maintenance.  For the 9th International Orthodontic Congress, we would like to propose to our colleagues and those who support our profession the world over, to deeply reflect on the role of orthodontics as the starting point for health science, whose importance is expected to only grow in the future, so that we may continue to fulfill this role most optimally.

We hope that the 9th IOC will provide participants the opportunity to discover and appreciate Japanese culture, tradition and natural beauty. I would like to impress upon you that the Japanese orthodontic and dental community, the Japanese government, the city of Yokohama and other parties concerned are solidly united in our determination to welcome Congress participants and their guests in the best possible manner.
