As an organization with more than 120 affiliate organizations across the globe, the WFO recognizes that the positive image of a healthy, beautiful smile often transcends cultural and geographic boundaries. In celebration of this universal message, the theme for the 2025 WFO World Orthodontic Health Day is: “A World of Smiles.”
Since its inception in 2017, World Orthodontic Health Day has served as an excellent platform to share the positive benefits of orthodontic treatment and engage with people of all ages who are eager to learn more. The event is celebrated each year on May 15.
“The WOHD 2025 theme was developed to emphasize that people around the world and from diverse cultures often share smiles not only with those they know and care about, but also, in many places, with strangers,” said Dr. Nikhillesh Vaiid, Former WFO president. “A healthy, beautiful smile has the power to bring joy to anyone who sees it.”
“We encourage everyone to explore the toolkit, which contains many well-designed and useful resources,” added Dr. Vaiid. “Whether you’re hosting an open house at your practice, organizing a community-focused educational event through your academic department, or presenting a seminar for residents and local orthodontists, we hope everyone will take part in some way.”
For clinics and practices, a celebration honoring both current and former patients might include inviting them—if they are comfortable—to share stories about how orthodontic treatment has positively impacted their lives, Dr. Vaiid noted.
