Give a Smile™ turns 10
Pro bono charity of the Australian Society of Orthodontists has helped more than 1,500 children
Give a Smile™, the pro bono charity of the Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO), celebrated its 10th birthday in June 2015.
“What a wonderful 10 years it has been,” said Dr. Ted Crawford, founder and chair of the program. “More than 1,500 smiles have been given to kids in need courtesy of the generosity and special talents of so many ASO members. It has been an amazing program where more than two-thirds of all ASO members are signed on to GAS to accept one in-need patient per year from public orthodontic waiting lists across Australia. This is something that makes the ASO – and its members – very proud.”
The ASO, including all Give a Smile orthodontists, their support staff and the entire GAS team, celebrated the anniversary June 5 in Luna Park in St. Kilda, Melbourne, which is where GAS was launched by Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who was the country’s health minister at the time.
