WFO seeks affiliation with a clinical orthodontic journal
The WFO may soon be affiliated with a clinical orthodontic journal. The WFO Executive Committee is currently considering several candidates by way of a detailed “request for proposals” and review process. After lengthy discussions and surveys of the WFO member organizations, the Executive Committee began requesting these detailed proposals in November 2003. Interested publishers submitted proposals to the Executive Committee in mid-March, and the final evaluation and selection process has been initiated.
“While the WFO has been very successful in meeting our organizational objectives in many areas, we would like to improve our dissemination of clinically oriented information to WFO fellows,” said Dr. Lee Graber, president of the WFO. “This, along with the promotion of orthodontic research, is a key area of importance for the WFO. To meet that challenge, the WFO Executive Committee is considering affiliation with an orthodontic journal. While there are many outstanding orthodontic journals, most of them published by WFO affiliate organizations and edited by WFO members, our feeling is that through affiliation we can potentially provide enhanced avenues of communication for orthodontics and the WFO, as well as increased exposure for our affiliated organizations.”
Look to future issues of the WFO Gazette for more information as it becomes available.
